Infinity 4.2 Update

We are pleased to announce the imminent release of Infinity 4.2, featuring the following enhancements and bug fixes:

Opening/Saving

  • Support for InfinityLink Pro Tools plug-in (in beta)
  • Much faster multi-threaded waveform rendering in File > Export… and File > Update Source
  • Remember pitch/time zoom and source file for File > Save Copy As…

Audio

  • Much improved waveform reproduction
  • Much improved time stretched audio quality
  • Fixed recently introduced clicking at starts and ends of playback
  • Fixed crash changing rips during playback
  • Shows warning in bottom left if playback quality reduced due to insufficient processing power availability

Ripping

  • Added optimizations for stems and tracks of vocals, guitars and bass
  • Tweaks to frequency/amplitude pickup
  • Ripper window no longer resizable
  • Added ‘Full speed’ to Ripper options. When off, rips more slowly using less threads, allowing Infinity playback to be improved and other apps to be more responsive. Ripping takes around 20% longer depending on number of processor cores present. Off by default if machine has 8 or more hyperthreaded cores.

User Interface

  • No note fade on instrument menu Mute All Others
  • Scrolls to start of first bar when first opening a rip (useful if long gap at start of a stem)
  • Snaps to start of first bar when scrolling
  • Windows: Further improvements to prevent app not responding issue

RipScripts

  • Fixed issue with starting with poor quality playback
  • Fixed issue with note selections made by RipScripts being ignored when following by a RipScript edit
  • Fixed playback issue when no notes requested

Documentation

  • Added step-by-step instructions for a variety of edits
