I use them to let me know what is coming next (note sequence, intro, bridge, verse#, Chorus, outro, etc.). I have noticed that when I insert or remove passages that the Marker positions do not shift with the cut/paste - they appear to be anchored to the Measure/Beat number. So if you paste 4 measures into a song, every marker that occurs after the pasted material, is now early by 4 measures. This can mean a lot of additional work to fix the Markers (delete the out of time Marker and then create a new one for the entire song after the cut/paste time).

 

Related: It would also be handy to be able to "Move" a Marker manually after it is created. Currently you can only Edit or Remove a Marker.
