Hi there, I just want to know how to set up my RTX4090 cuda card properly.  There's no useful info on this to be found on the forum.  I have Cuda compilation tools, release 11.7, V11.7.64 installed.  I don't see any activity on my gpu when I rip.

Please note:  I already had the above cuda version installed before I installed Ripx, but it asked me to install it when I first launched the app.  Was it saying it hadn't found it or hadn't looked for it?

So, 3 questions:

  1. How do I set up Cuda properly and confirm it is working (since task manager charts don't show anything).
  2. What is the expected performance improvement using cuda?
  3. Does the app look for cuda on first run, or just show that message regardless?
Cheers.

RipX requires version 11.0 of the CUDA Toolkit. You can download this version from:

https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-11.0-download-archive?target_os=Windows&target_arch=x86_64&target_version=10&target_type=exelocal

RipX will automatically detect it when it's run. You can check that GPU hardware acceleration is on by clicking 'About' in RipX's Help menu. The ripping speed should be much faster.

@dave Oh, so it's not compatible with version 11.7?  OK.

Thanks for the info.

A bit of a derail, but adjacent to the topic: How much better does Nvidia hardware perform over M1 Max?

Should I be jealous?

@terrordisco The speed is similar and potentially M1 is slightly faster.

So I have to uninstall version 12 as I'm on Windows 11, to install a version that is meant for Windows 10? Come on man, why is this so backwards?

@zadiac It's not necessary to uninstall version 12 but version 11.0 does need to be installed. There are no compatibility issues with RipX DAW's use of that version on Windows 11.

@dave I tried and the installation told me to uninstall the newer version as there are components that needs to be uninstalled. I just uninstalled everything, as well as Ripx. I don't need this. You can delete my account here. There are extremely good online options out there without all this technical crap. Sorry.

No need to reply as I won't see it.

@zadiac I'm sorry to hear that. In case you change your mind, I recommend uninstalling all versions of the CUDA Toolkit, installing version 11.0 and then the more recent version.
