Hello 🙂

Totally new to RipX and was really looking forward to using it. Bought and downloaded the installation file only for McAfee Antivirus to identify it as a threat and automatically quarantine the file. I did download from this site, not any dodgy 3rd party... Checked on Google and was assured it was OK, so unquarantined the file and tried to install only for McAfee to catch it again and remove it.

I've been using McAfee for years and do trust it, so I'm not simply going to deactivate it and install RipX even though I am pretty sure this is a false positive from McAfee.

Has anyone else had problems like this?

I've just downloaded RipX DAW from our website and find that Norton 360 doesn't have any problems with it so it does look as though this is a false positive from McAfee. We've contacted McAfee regarding this. In the meantime, it should be possible to whitelist RipX DAW in McAfee’s settings.

@dave What did you do to resolve this ?? I am having the same issue with McAfee and trust it also... Just because Norton didn't detect it doesn't mean its safe !!!

Exactly same problem here. Please find attached a screen shot (in Japanese but exactly same threat code as @hughesai's case).

I contacted McAfee Japan and let them run their remote operation in my PC so to manage to solve the problem (temporally though).
1) They whitelisted and downloaded RipXDAW in my PC.
2) and ran the RipX installer (downloaded RipXDAW_751.exe file) while temporally de-activating McAfee in my PC.

It seemed that McAfee Japan could not manage to fix the root-cause (i.e. a false positive?) locally in Japan. So the same problem may be repeated among the McAfee users in the world who would like to enjoy RipX DAW....

We've reported this false positive multiple times via the appropriate form on McAfee's website and have received no response from them. The only way we have been able to communicate with them is by contacting their technical support team. They created a case and escalated it to their management team who didn't respond. We chased them up for a response and they closed the case without responding. This prevented us from being able to email them any further. We will continue to chase this but, so far, this has proven to be very difficult.

Hi again.

I've redownloaded this today and it now passes he McAfee scan.

I also restored the original file I downloaded from Quarantine and scanned it again - it also passed this time.

So it looks like McAfee have updated their signatures to recognise whatever was setting off their alarm as safe.

Thanks for your help !!
