When I rip a track that contains only clarinet, piano and double bass RipX does not separate the piano and Clarinet.
For instruments other than voice, bass and drums, it may sometimes be necessary to correct the assignment of notes within RipX. This can be done by listening to them, selecting them and then assigning them to another layer by clicking on the appropriate arrow button in the Layers Panel. A new layer can be added to the Layers Panel by clicking 'Add' beneath the list of layers.
I am a guitarist and singer, who purchased RipX to remove the guitar solos and vocals from songs so that I could sing/play them live instead.
Vocal removal is top notch excellent.
Guitar removal is a huge disappointment. 🙁
I mean this app can't even remotely figure out even the clearest guitar solos or even a piano for that matter.
I sure hope breaking down guitar/piano is on the roadmap for future releases, because I'd love to really use this software in the future. I need more than just a karaoke machine, so this software just sits, unused.. It is close though, so close, so every update I install, I hope that it does better!
(And yeah, I tried to manually remove the guitar by clicking and moving to a "Guitar Solo" track, but the resulting music just sounds unacceptable afterwards)
@dorpond Thanks for your feedback. We’re looking into ways to improve separation of piano from guitar. To separate a guitar solo from other guitars is a very difficult thing to do and is beyond the current scope of RipX. However, where they have been recognized as different notes, it is possible to separate them in the same way described in my earlier post.
