Hi.
I can't find a simple way to work with stems in ableton, when you're working with multiple tracks.
I want to use RipX rips in mixtapes, but as it stands it's pretty convoluted.
Preferrably running it on a single track. This would of course call for a plugin, and one that I suspect doesn't exist.
If you were using say the NI Stems format, which reads as stereo audio in Ableton, you'd have to replace that with the stems, from the file on the disk, in real time. then you could get volume controls on each, and so on.
I'm not asking a specific question because I know that the only ready answer is "no", so what I'm looking for is a conversation about possibilities and challenges.
I am, however, curious if the ARA plugin does something equal to this in ara-enabled DAWs? I.e. give you the possibility of controlling stem channels via DAW automation lanes? Or if it just links files so edits/changes have to happen in RipX?
Otherwise, any useful information or views are greatly appreciated.
I'm not sure this would be something Hit N Mix would be interested in doing themselves, but maybe something could be bashed together by users if enough interested parties help out.
Thanks for your feedback. The RipLink ARA plugin simply allows tracks or sections of tracks to be sent from DAWs that support ARA2/VST3 to RipX and back. For Ableton, it's possible to work with RipX by setting it as its external sample editor. (Information on how to do this can be found in the manual which can be accessed from RipX's Help menu.)
