I want to skip a step and sample directly into RipX with the record feature, and get to separated stems for vocals, other parts.  For the life of me I can't find a way to do this.  Is it possible?

It's not possible to record directly to a sample - it's necessary to first record into a Rip (e.g. a new one) and then create samples from the recorded notes. Alternatively, samples recorded with another application can be imported into the Sounds Panel by clicking on the folder button on that panel's title bar.

@dave Happy to record to a RIP but then I couldnt see a way to separate the stems from that recording.  eg say I want to record a song to sample.  If I drop the recording into RIPx it wil lprompt to separate the stems.  If I record it directly I don't see a way to get vocals, bass etc to its own track.  Am I missing something?

I'm afraid this isn't currently possible.
