So is there a way you can declare layers before you analyze a song for stems, RipXDaw seems to be very "rock" focused, and lets say I put an electronic track with alot of synthesizer layers in and select, Bass, Drums and "Other Sounds & Instruments".
The attached photo is what the layers auto generate as - I've been using it on many songs and it seems like it always picks guitars (and other stems) for any midrange/harmonic content.

It's not possible to declare the layers first. For instruments other than voice, bass, piano and drums, it may sometimes be necessary to correct the assignment of notes within RipX DAW. This can be done by listening to them, selecting them and then assigning them to another layer by clicking on the appropriate arrow button in the Layers Panel. A new layer can be added to the Layers Panel by clicking ‘Add’ beneath the list of layers.

There’s also the possibility of using the Stereo Pass filter effect (from the Level Panel) to separate them if they have different stereo positions.

@dave Could you elaborate on assignment of notes?

I know how to grab a window of the FFT spectrum (lets say from Guitar) and then add them to a newly reated layer that I've named "Synth Pads"

Notes can be reassigned as follows:

  1. Click on notes (or click & drag over them) to listen to them and decide which layer they should be in.
  2. While they are still selected, hover the mouse pointer over the name of that layer in the Layers Panel.
  3. Click on the arrow button that appears on the right-hand side.
